A Lao Airlines plane crashed on Wednesday. It cashed in southern Laos in the Mekong River. A Thai television channel reported that there were 39 victims dead. The plane crashed at 4:00 P.M. near Pakse, Champasak Province. Paske is on the border of both Thailand and Cambodia. There is not a for sure number of casualties. Two of the 39 reported dead are Thai nationals. The search is still continuing to find more victims. Lao Airlines is the national carrier for the communist state. They only have 14 planes which are propeller driven. They carried 685,000 passengers last year. Lao Airlines have been in operation since 1976.
